Objective

The aim of the study was to assess quantitative and qualitative differences in pollen grains concentration in different parts of Warsaw. A degree of urbanization and local flora are different in those parts of the city.

Material and Methods

In the pollen seasons of 1994 and 1995 in 7 different places in Warsaw pollen study was carried out. Volumetric VST-1 samplers were used. They were placed 25 meters above ground level, at roof level in different districts of Warsaw.

Results

The highest pollen grains concentration was noted in Zoliborz district. The higest rye pollen grain concentration was observed in Wola district. In Praga Polnoc district the highest mugwort and Lamb's Quarters pollen grain concentration was registered.

Conclusions

The considerable differences in pollen grains concentration allow us to conclude that there is a possibility of wider prevention of pollinosis.
